Borussia Monchengladbach defender Martin Stranzl has extended his contract with the club for another year.
Stranzl had initially planned to retire from football at the end of last season but was convinced to stay on for one more campaign by the club.
The 33-year-old has now extended his career even further, and Gladbach director of sport Max Eberl was "delighted" to have tied him down for another season.
"Martin has been in our starting XI for 20 out of 21 competitive matches for us this season. He's an important lead figure in our team and we're delighted that we will have him with us next year too," Eberl is quoted as saying by PA.
Stranzl joined Gladbach from Spartak Moscow in January 2011.
