Eddie Howe: 'Everton had too much quality'

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe admits that Everton had "a bit too much quality" for his side in their FA Cup meeting at Dean Court.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has admitted that Everton simply had "too much quality" for his side in their FA Cup meeting at the Vitality Stadium this evening.

The Toffees booked their place in the quarter-finals of the competition with a 2-0 win courtesy of a deflected Ross Barkley strike and a Romelu Lukaku second 15 minutes from time.

It could have been different had Charlie Daniels not seen a first-half spot kick saved, although Howe refused to attach any blame for the defeat to his penalty taker.

"He's taken some pressure penalties for us this season. Today he didn't score, but that's the life of a penalty taker I'm afraid," Howe told reporters.

"There's an element of frustration for us. We were right in game until the first goal. Obviously the penalty was a key moment in the game, and it's a cruel deflection for the first goal which has made the difference.

"We wanted to win, we wanted and to go through. Ultimately Everton probably had a bit too much quality in the end."

Bournemouth will now turn their attention back to the Premier League, with a trip to face Watford next up on Saturday.
