David Hopkirk put Allan Johnston's side ahead with just eight minutes played, before a Joe Cardle goal and Ryan Wallace brace sealed the win for the Pars in the second half.

Ayr United continue to stand just one point behind Dunfermline in second following a 1-0 away victory against Stenhousemuir, with Ross Caldwell finishing in the opening 10 minutes before Jon Robertson was sent off for the home side in the final minute of play.

Brechin City stay bottom after a 1-0 home defeat to third place Albion Rovers, with a first half Paul Willis goal condemning Darren Dods' team to an eighth defeat in 11 games.

Second-bottom Cowdenbeath picked up an important three points with a 3-0 away to Stranraer, as finishes from Bradley Donaldson, Kyle Miller and Robbie Buchanan moved the Miners four points clear of Brechin.

Elsewhere, Peterhead moved up two places to sixth after a 2-0 win against Airdrieonians, courtesy of goals from Rory McAllister and Leighton Mcintosh either side of the half-time break.
