Bristol City have appointed former Nottingham Forest boss Sean O'Driscoll as the club's new head coach.
The 55-year-old, who was sacked by Forest on Boxing Day, was expected to move to Ashton Gate following reports that he had rejected Blackpool's advances.
City have confirmed that O'Driscoll has agreed to a rolling contract after the club's decision to axe Derek McInnes at the weekend.
Managing director Jon Lansdown told the club's official website: "It's important that we give ourselves the best possible chance of surviving and moving up the Championship table this season.
"In Sean we have someone with a track record of developing clubs longer term, as well as a wealth of experience at this level, which will be vital in our fight for survival in the Championship. I am delighted he decided to join us ahead of a number of other offers he has received."
O'Driscoll joins the club at a time when they have accumulated 22 points from 26 games and sit at the bottom of the league table.
