The League Cup first-round clash between Bristol Rovers and Birmingham City at the Memorial Stadium remains goalless at half time.
The League Two outfit were quick off the starting blocks, threatening their opponents with some dangerous forays into their box, but the Blues were able to repel the Gas attacks.
Birmingham pushed forward as the first half went on but there was little in the way of chances, though Wes Thomas's snapshot in the 23rd minute could have been dangerous had it not been deflected away from goal.
Moments later Andrew Shinnie burst inside and fired from the edge of the area, but this was again deflected off a Rovers body and out of play.
There was a late flurry of action as Lee Brown presented Thomas with a gilt-edged chance in front of goal, but the subsequent effort was lashed well over as neither side succeeded in grabbing a goal come the break.
