Reading have taken a two-goal lead into half time against Sean Dyche's Burnley outfit thanks to strikes from Nick Blackman and Lucas Piazon.
The Brazilian midfielder, making his first Championship start following a loan move from Chelsea, immediately created a chance for Danny Williams but Ben Mee was able to block the midfielder's effort.
Blackman scored his eighth goal of the season for Reading after five minutes, converting a chance fashioned by strike partner Hal Robson-Kanu who backheeled the ball into Blackman's path.
Piazon got himself on the scoresheet minutes later as he sidefooted past Tom Heaton from Chris Gunter's low cross.
Burnley replied with an attack that saw Michael Kightly shoot directly at Jonathan Bond in the Reading goal.
David Jones' free kick then found Michael Keane at the back post but the former Manchester United player could not find the target as the home side ended the half with a two-goal deficit.
