Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield believes that not having to sell players this summer will help the club in their bid to make an immediate return to the Premier League.

Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield has already set his sights on returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking next season.

The Clarets earned a surprise promotion to the top flight last term, but were condemned to an immediate return to the Championship despite a 1-0 win over Hull City at the weekend.

However, chief executive Lee Hoos has insisted that the club will not have to sell players as a result of their relegation, and Arfield believes that could be key to launching another promotion bid next year.

"I think that is massive. What the gaffer has built here is a side with great ability, but it's also about the team spirit and togetherness we've got. Once you've had a taste of this division, you want to get back here as soon as possible and that's definitely what we've got to do next year," he told the club's official website.

"I think the majority of the squad will still be here next season. The way the players come in and talk about the club every day and the buzz to come in every day in training. The boys that are in contract know it's a fantastic place to be and we want to get back to what we did last season and get back to the Premier League.

"The bigger picture is massive and I think what the gaffer has instilled is that belief to go and attack teams and the freedom to go out and play. It's a manager you want to play under and the longer he stays at the football club, I'm sure it will be in really good hands."

One player who is expected to leave Turf Moor this summer is Danny Ings, who has reportedly courted interest from the likes of Liverpool and Real Sociedad following a 10-goal return in the top flight.
