Joey Barton has hit out at the Football League for not presenting Burnley with the Championship trophy after yesterday's 3-0 win away at Charlton Athletic.
The Clarets headed to The Valley having already secured promotion to the Premier League, but they needed the three points from what was the final game of the season to clinch top spot.
They did just that, but under new Football League rules, trophies are no longer handed to the away side, which left the Burnley players lifting up inflatable replicas in front of the travelling supporters.
"Trophy should have been there yesterday. We earned it. 46 games. 23 undefeated. And lifting blow up/cardboard trophies? Shambles," he wrote on Twitter.
Instead, Sean Dyche's squad will have to celebrate their success at a civic reception in Burnley tomorrow.
