Leicester City move out of the bottom three courtesy of their fourth win on the bounce in the Premier League - a 1-0 victory over relegation rivals Burnley.

Jamie Vardy scored the only goal of the game to fire Leicester City to a 1-0 victory over Burnley this afternoon and move the Foxes out of the Premier League's bottom three.

Nigel Pearson's men were denied the lead in the opening minutes of the game as Jason Shackell made an important clearing header to deny Leonardo Ulloa, who looked ready to guide Vardy's cross past Tom Heaton.

The visitors pressed again in the final third as Vardy created space for an opening on the edge of the box and fired an effort low towards the bottom corner, but Heaton was able to get down to make the save.

Burnley almost put themselves ahead when Shackell knocked Kieran Trippier's corner into the path of Matthew Taylor, but the winger was denied by a smart reaction save from Kasper Schmeichel.

After the break, the Clarets were presented with a golden chance to take the lead when Taylor was brought down in the box and referee Anthony Taylor awarded a penalty.

The 33-year-old took the spot kick himself, and, although he sent Schmeichel the wrong way, his effort clattered off the post and bounced to safety.

Leicester made the home side pay for their missed chance as they immediately took the lead. A cross came into the box from Marc Albrighton and Michael Duff's attempted clearance nearly beat Heaton, who made a great stop before Vardy pounced to fire the visitors ahead.

Burnley pressed late in the game for an equaliser, but were denied by an impressive save by Schmeichel as he somehow reacted to Ben Mee's drive, which took a deflection off Robert Huth on its way to goal.

Leicester had opportunities to kill the game off in the dying minutes, but Heaton gave his side hope with a string of fine saves. However, his efforts were in vain as the Foxes secured their fourth win on the spin in the top flight.
