Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has revealed that Rickie Lambert suffered a "horrific" leg injury during Saturday's Championship clash with Nottingham Forest.
The 34-year-old was stretchered off during the first half at the City Ground following a collision with Forest goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic.
Warnock revealed that he would not let his players see the damage to Lambert's shin, with the striker now a major doubt for this weekend's clash with Wigan Athletic.
"I don't know how cuts heal but it looked horrific," Warnock is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
"I had to get one or two of the lads out - I didn't want them looking at it at half time in a game like that.
"The cut is that deep they're just worried about whether there's any ligament damage because it's severed right through to his shin. It's terrible."
Warnock has picked up seven points from a possible nine since taking over in South Wales.
