Scott Young: 'Our performance was unacceptable'

Co-caretaker boss Scott Young admits that his side's performance against Bournemouth in the League Cup was "unacceptable" as they fell to a 3-0 defeat at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Cardiff City co-caretaker manager Scott Young believes that he and Danny Gabbidon had no option but to make two substitutions before half time as their team lost 3-0 at home to Bournemouth in the League Cup third round.

Dan Gosling netted either side of a Charlie Daniels strike as Bournemouth produced a clinical display in South Wales, and Young has insisted that the "unacceptable" nature of his team's display forced the temporary bosses to make changes before the break.

The 38-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "We can't start a game with eight or nine players like we did here. That was the reason why we had to make changes and take people off. We were 3-0 down and needed to be brave.

"There were a few choice words at half time but that wasn't acceptable for this football club.

"When you wear that shirt you have to wear it with pride and the minimum requirement is to work hard and have the will to want to do it."

The Bluebirds will attempt to end a five-game winless run in the Championship on Saturday when they host Sheffield Wednesday.
