Sports Mole previews Saturday's League One clash between Charlton Athletic and Leyton Orient, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Charlton Athletic will be targeting a second straight league victory when they welcome Leyton Orient to The Valley on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the visitors will be looking to claim their first league win of the season after losing to Bolton Wanderers in their season opener.

Match preview

Former Luton Town manager Nathan Jones has just begun his first full season as Charlton boss after taking over the reins in February.

After steering the club away from danger last term, Jones would have been pleased to see his side kick off the current campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over Wigan Athletic, which came courtesy of Lloyd Jones's 81st-minute winner.

Unfortunately for the Addicks, they came out the wrong side of a 1-0 scoreline in Tuesday's EFL Cup clash against Birmingham City, with Brandon Khela's strike condemning them to their third first-round defeat in four seasons.

Charlton may have suffered a midweek defeat at The Valley, but they did finish last season with a seven-game unbeaten home league run.

They will fancy their chances of extending that run on Saturday, have won each of their previous three home league games against Leyton Orient, including a 1-0 win in last season's home meeting.

Leyton Orient experienced a disappointing start to the new season, falling to a narrow 2-1 home defeat in last Saturday's home meeting with Bolton Wanderers.

Charlie Kelman struck in the 38th minute to cancel out Dion Charles's opener, but Leyton Orient were unable to find another equaliser when Victor Adeboyejo restored Bolton's slender advantage in the 75th minute.

Leyton Orient boss Richie Wellens may have been disappointed with the opening day result, but he would have been pleased to see his side bounce back with a commanding 4-1 win over Newport County in Tuesday's League Cup tie.

Dan Agyei, Diallang Jaiyesimi, Brandon Cooper and Kelman all got on the scoresheet as the O's breeze past their League Two opponents to set up a second-round tie against Millwall.

The O's will look to build upon that comprehensive victory this weekend as they go in search of their first away league win over Charlton since recording a 1-0 victory in January 2010.

Team News

Charlton are still unable to call upon forward Miles Leaburn, who is continuing to work on his recovery from a hamstring injury.

The Addicks will hope that Matty Godden can play some part of Saturday's contest after missing the last two matches due to a tight hamstring.

After making a number of changes in midweek, Jones could be tempted to revert back to the same side that started the league win over Wigan.

As for Leyton Orient, Omar Beckles, Jordan Brown and Ollie O'Neill could return to the backline after dropping down to the bench in midweek.

Despite getting on the scoresheet in the EFL Cup, Jaiyesimi may have to settle for a place on the bench against his former club.

Meanwhile, Kelman will be looking to continue his promising start to the season after scoring in the first two competitive matches of the new season.

Charlton Athletic possible starting lineup:
Mannion; Mitchell, Jones, Gillesphey; Ramsay, Docherty, Coventry, Anderson, Edwards; Ahadme, Campbell

Leyton Orient possible starting lineup:
Hemming; Clare, Cooper, Beckles, Sweeney; Brown, Obiero; Galbraith, Kelman, O'Neill; Agyei

We say: Charlton Athletic 2-1 Leyton Orient

Charlton have avoided defeat in their last seven league home matches, and we think that they will carry that home form into the new League One season by claiming a narrow victory in Saturday's home game against Leyton Orient.
