Kai Havertz could soon be on his way to Chelsea after Bayer Leverkusen were knocked out of the Europa League, according to a report.
Havertz bagged his 18th goal of the season against Inter Milan on Monday, but the 21-year-old's strike was not enough to prevent Leverkusen from bowing out of the Europa League at the quarter-final stage, with earlier goals from Nicolo Barella and Romelu Lukaku proving the difference on the night.
Previous reports had suggested that Havertz would not complete his proposed move to Chelsea until Leverkusen's campaign drew to a close, and it appears that the protracted transfer saga surrounding the attacker could now reach a conclusion sooner rather than later.
Indeed, the Evening Standard claims that Havertz may have played his final game in a Leverkusen shirt following their elimination from the Europa League.
The report claims that Havertz is desperate to join Chelsea and personal terms should not pose a problem, but Chelsea are yet to agree a fee with Leverkusen for the highly-rated attacker.
The Blues are said to be hopeful of striking a deal for £70m despite Leverkusen's £90m valuation of Havertz, who has notched up 45 goals in 149 appearances across all competitions for the German outfit.
