Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Diego Costa has been withdrawn from the squad for this afternoon's Community Shield at Wembley because of a hamstring injury.
On Friday, Mourinho claimed that the Spanish striker would be fit for the encounter against Arsenal, despite the fact that he had picked up a knock during a recent pre-season friendly.
However, during an interview before today's game, the Chelsea boss revealed that Costa had pulled out because of "discomfort in his hamstring".
Costa, who scored 21 goals in all competitions last season, has been plagued by a similar injury for much of his stint as a Chelsea player.
