Chelsea's club lawyers are reportedly going through the process of handing Roman Abramovich's stewardship of the club over to the charitable foundation.
With Abramovich facing the possibility of having his assets seized as part of sanctions on Russia following their invasion of Ukraine, the oligarch announced last week that he was "relinquishing stewardship and care" of the club.
However, Chelsea's trustees are supposedly yet to take over the stewardship, with those involved reported to be concerned about potential legal issues for a charity to run the European champions.
Now, the Evening Standard reports that a "legal framework" is in the works to allow the trustees to be handed the Chelsea stewardship, but members are still worried about the possibility of Abramovich still running the club.
The report adds that some trustees could resign in the wake of the shock announcement, and there is also no indication as to how long the charitable foundation would have control for.
Abramovich is reported to be trying to negotiate a peaceful solution to the conflicts in Eastern Europe as Russian forces advance towards Kyiv. body check tags ::
