Ross Barkley: 'I want to win everything at Chelsea'

New Chelsea signing Ross Barkley sets his sights on winning "everything" during his time at the club as he nears his return from a lengthy hamstring injury.

New Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley has set his sights on winning "everything" during his time at the club.

The 24-year-old completed a cut-price £15m switch to Stamford Bridge from Everton yesterday, putting pen to paper on a five-and-a-half-year deal which will keep him at the club until 2023.

Barkley has not featured at all so far this season due to a hamstring injury, but he is now nearing full fitness and is particularly eager to play in the Champions League for the first time once the competition gets back underway.

"It will be the first time I've been involved in the competition (Champions League) and every player wants to play in the Champions League. I want to win everything while I'm here and to be competing for all the biggest trophies, as the club does every year. My aim is to be a winner," he told Chelsea TV.

"You have to set your goals high and the sky's the limit for this team. I know Gary Cahill from playing with England and I know Danny Drinkwater as well. I'm looking forward to getting to know the other lads, and playing with them as well. There are world-class players in the squad and I can't wait to work with them every day.

"I'm looking forward to getting started, putting the injury behind me and trying to be successful at Chelsea. I'm back in training, I'm doing everything as normal and I'm very close to being ready to play games. I've been training for a few weeks now and I'm feeling great.

"I want to continue to improve season after season, which I think I've done. I've already played a lot of games in the Premier League, I've got a lot of experience under my belt and I look forward to showing that."

Barkley is unlikely to feature in Wednesday's EFL Cup semi-final first leg against Arsenal, but could be in contention for next weekend's Premier League clash with Leicester City.
