How Liverpool could line up against Chelsea

Sports Mole looks at how champions Liverpool could line up for Wednesday's Premier League clash with Champions League-chasing Chelsea at Anfield.

Liverpool play their final home game of an unforgettable 2019-20 campaign on Wednesday night when Champions League-chasing Chelsea visit Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp and his players will finally get their hands on the Premier League trophy after the match, with Jordan Henderson set to become the first Liverpool captain since Alan Hansen in 1990 to hoist it above his head.

The Reds will no doubt enjoy it all the more off the back of a victory over the team that won them the title last month, although Chelsea have their own agenda with victory securing a top-four spot for the visitors.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up for the contest.

Out: Jordan Henderson (knee), Joel Matip (toe)
Doubtful: James Milner (hamstring)

Klopp named more or less his strongest possible XI last time out against Arsenal, when uncharacteristic errors from Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker cost Liverpool the game despite an otherwise dominant performance.

There is little need to change things up too much, though, with Liverpool having enjoyed a week-long rest between games and no new injury concerns arising from that Arsenal contest.

Naby Keita may be one of the players pushing for a recall and he could take Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's place, with captain Henderson sidelined with a knee injury - although he will still lift the trophy.

Joel Matip is also sidelined, but James Milner is expected to come back into contention having carefully nursed his recovery from a hamstring injury in recent weeks.

Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah were both on the scoresheet in the corresponding fixture last season - the latter spectacularly so - but they will need a multi-goal haul in this match to keep themselves in the Golden Boot race heading into the final day.

For Roberto Firmino, meanwhile, the game represents his last chance to score his first home league goal of 2019-20.
