Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti said that "great player" Erling Braut Haaland is joining "a great club" in Manchester City.

The Citizens confirmed on Tuesday that they had reached an agreement to sign the Norway international from Borussia Dortmund during this summer's transfer window.

Real Madrid were also believed to be keen to sign the forward, who is expected to cost the Premier League champions £51.2m, although the deal is likely to be over £200m including wages and agent fees.

When asked about Haaland's imminent move to Manchester, Ancelotti was full of praise for the 21-year-old, who has scored 28 times and registered eight assists in 29 outings for BVB this term.

"I don't like to talk about this kind of things. Haaland is a great player and Manchester City is a great club, but I'm just thinking about my squad, that has given me another Champions League final," the Italian told reporters during Wednesday's press conference.

Los Blancos are still working on a deal for Kylian Mbappe, with the France international, as it stands, available on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Meanwhile, the La Liga champions have also allegedly agreed to sign Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger on a free, with the switch set to be confirmed after the Champions League final.

However, Ancelotti remained coy when asked whether the duo would be heading for Bernabeu ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

"I think we'll have time to talk about things like that after the final. It's not the moment to talk about the future of Real Madrid, as we need to focus on these next few weeks and the final," said the 62-year-old.

"I don't want to talk about the transfer market. I want to speak about tomorrow's match. This isn't a day to discuss presumed arrivals."

Ancelotti was also keen to praise the professionalism of his squad, as Real Madrid look to make it a double this season, with the club preparing to take on Liverpool in the Champions League final later this month.

"Sometimes I've had problems with players in the past. Without saying names, there have been players who get frustrated when I tell them they're resting in a certain match," he told reporters.

"But, here, again without naming any names, when I tell a player who has won four Champions League titles that they're resting in a certain match, they say 'no problem'. The players here at Real Madrid have a different level of professionalism. That's why it has been a simple season for me."

Real Madrid, who suffered a 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Madrid derby at the weekend, will face Levante, Cadiz and Real Betis in their final three league matches of the campaign before taking on Liverpool in the European Cup final on May 28. body check tags ::
