Newcastle United are understood to be preparing an improved offer for Lille full-back Mathieu Debuchy after their first bid was rejected by the French club.
The Magpies are believed to have had a recent offer of £4m turned down for the 26-year-old following his impressive performances for France at Euro 2012.
Manager Alan Pardew is now ready to put £6m on the table for the defender as he looks to boost his squad for next season, according to The Mirror.
Debuchy, who signed his first professional contract with Lille in 2003, has also been linked with a move to Chelsea.
