George Moncur scored in stoppage time as Colchester United edged out fellow League One side Peterborough United to reach the third round of the FA Cup.
The first half went by with few clear-cut chances before the game came to life in the dying moments.
Peterborough won a late penalty when Sanchez Watt brought down Michael Bostwick in the box, but Aaron McLean saw his spot kick saved by Sam Walker.
Posh went close from the resulting corner before the U's snatched victory in the 91st minute through Moncur, who collected the ball on the edge of the box and picked out the bottom corner with his left foot.
