Colorado Rapids missed a host of chances as they drew 0-0 with New York City FC to extend their winless MLS run to 16 games.
The visitors thought that they had taken a first-half lead when David Villa slotted the ball into the net, but it was ruled out for offside.
The home side went close in the first half through a Vincent Sanchez curler which was tipped over the bar and Marc Burch's left-footed drive which flashed inches past the post.
Dillon Powers forced a fine save from Josh Saunders, and the keeper then reacted quickly to flip a Gabriel Torres shot over the bar.
New York went close on several occasions through World Cup-winner Villa, but it was their resolute defensive display that they have to thank for the point.
