Colorado Rapids remain without a win since July after they lost 1-0 at home to Dallas this evening.
The first half was a dour affair, with neither side creating any chances of note at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
Kellyn Acosta and Tesho Akindelewere were thrown on by Dallas manager Oscar Pareja at the start of the second half as they looked for a breakthrough, and the changes paid dividends.
In the 56th minute, the ball struck the arm of Chris Klute and Blas Perez stepped up to lift the spot kick into the back of the net.
Fabian Castillo linked up well with Perez in the second half and saw his powerful shot well saved by Clinton Irwin as Dallas went in search of a second goal.
The home side searched in vain for a leveller, and their task became twice as difficult with 11 minutes remaining when Jared Watts was shown a second yellow card to heap more woe on Pablo Mastroeni's side.
