Ian Holloway: 'Crystal Palace fans deserve answers'

Crystal Palace supporters should be told why Tony Pulis left his role as manager, according to former boss Ian Holloway.

Crystal Palace supporters deserve an explanation as to why Tony Pulis left his managerial post at Selhurst Park, according to his predecessor Ian Holloway.

Pulis surprisingly exited the club by mutual consent, only 48 hours before Palace's 2-1 opening-day defeat at Arsenal and little is known about why the former Stoke City boss quit.

However, with many reports suggesting a breakdown in his relationship with co-chairman Steve Parish, Holloway believes that Eagles fans deserve answers.

He told The Mirror: "By the very nature of his departure, the relationship between manager and club had irretrievably broken down. Palace fans deserve an explanation.

"Whether they will ever get to hear the whole truth about what prompted another managerial reign to come to such an abrupt end is another matter.

"Usually, in these situations, tongues become tied by red tape. Compensation deals are ¬invariably struck, which have ¬confidentiality agreements at the heart of the contract. So, all the supporters hear are whispers and half-truths."

Holloway left Palace after a poor start to last season, which left the Eagles bottom of the Premier League.
