Marcos Senesi, Kieffer Moore on target as Bournemouth beat Crystal Palace

Marcos Senesi scored Bournemouth's first headed league goal of the season, while substitute Kieffer Moore stuck away the second late in the day, as the Cherries overcame Crystal Palace 2-0 at Selhurst Park on Wednesday evening.

Crystal Palace had won their last five Premier League games against Bournemouth and kept clean sheets in each of their last four.

And it was Palace that got the first big chance of the game as Jordan Ayew burst into the box off the left flank and fired a shot at goal, although Neto was up to it and tipped it over the bar.

It did not take Bournemouth long to find their feet, though, and they almost took the lead in the match inside the first 15 minutes when Marc Guehi's error set up Antoine Semenyo, but Sam Johnstone pulled off a very good save low to his right to keep the match level.

A sixth win over the Cherries, would have been a club record for the most consecutive victories over an opponent in the Premier League for the Eagles.

However, hopes of claiming that record dimmed before the half-hour mark as a corner was flicked on by Luis Sinisterra, and Senesi found himself completely free in the box to power his header past the opposing keeper.

That marked Bournemouth's first headed goal this season, and their lead was fully deserved as they were the better side in the contest over the first 45 minutes.

The Cherries carved out another couple of chances just before the half-time whistle, and the home fans made their feelings known at the break, greeting the referee's whistle with loud boos from all around the ground.

Roy Hodgson sent his team out early at the break, and it was the Eagles that began the second period on the front foot, with Michael Olise pulling the strings in the centre of the park.

The 21-year-old showed no signs of the hamstring injury that saw him sidelined for over four months.

Just before the hour-mark, Palace almost drew level when Jefferson Lerma burst into the opposition box and unleashed a vicious shot that cannoned off the post and out to the relief of Neto, who did not seem to know much about it.

The second half largely lacked quality as Bournemouth seemed happy to sit in and play on the counter, while Palace struggled to create many clear-cut chances the longer the match went on.

The Cherries continued to get men behind the ball in the closing stages of the match and finally created a good chance on the counter attack which landed at the feet of Moore, who had the simplest of finishes to cap of a resilient performance from his side and keep their momentum going into their next match against Manchester United this weekend.

With two wins in 11 games and Liverpool and Manchester City to come next, Palace could find themselves uncomfortably close to the dotted line heading into the New Year.
