FC Dallas have maintained their lead at the top of the MLS Western Conference with a 1-0 win over San Jose Earthquakes.
The home side could have been ahead in the first 30 seconds of the game as Jackson found space on the edge of the area but his goalbound effort was well blocked by Sam Cronin.
Dallas broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute when David Ferreira raided upfield and fed the ball to Fabian Castillo on the right, the winger took a touch and fired his effort low into the bottom corner past Jon Busch.
San Jose were almost level just before the break as Raul Fernandez punched clear from a Marvin Chavez went only as far as Victor Bernardez who drilled a shot at goal but it clattered the crossbar and went over.
After the break, Castillo and Ferreira almost combined for Dallas's second but this time Busch made a good save to deny the winger as he closed in on goal.
The Earthquakes nearly made Castillo pay for his miss but Fernandez made a great reaction save to deny Chris Wondolowksi at close range as he palmed away his volley.
Fernandez denied Wondowloski yet again in stoppage time as the striker's header looked to be creeping into the bottom corner but the keeper stuck out a hand and turned the ball away, earning his side the victory.
