Two second-half goals have given FC Dallas a 2-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps at the BC Place.
Chances were rare in the first period, with a David Arturo Ferreira long-range strike the closest Dallas could come to a goal.
In the second half, both sides continued to frustrate the other with some stern defending on show in the Eastern Conference clash.
However, the deadlock was broken on the hour mark when Fabian Castillo pounced on a loose ball inside the box to give Dallas the lead.
The Whitecaps failed to force a quick reply and Dallas were able to extend their advantage with 20 minutes remaining.
Jonathan Top collected a pass from Ferreira before turning and firing his shot past a helpless Joe Cannon.
Despite further chances for Dallas in the final stages, the visitors could not increase their lead before the final whistle.
