DC United produced an impressive performance to comprehensively defeat Colorado Rapids 2-0 at R.F.K. Stadium this evening.
Last season's MLS MVP Dwayne De Rosario opened the scoring on 25 minutes. The 34-year-old collected a neat through ball from Lewis Neal before firing low past helpless goalkeeper Matt Pickens.
De Rosario's strike partner Hamdi Salihi doubled the advantage on the hour mark. Neal crossed for Branko Boskovic and the Montenegro international's powerful header was parried by Pickens into the path of Salihi, who hammered home from close range.
United have now conceded only once in their past three outings.
