DC United have ended a run of seven consecutive defeats in the MLS Eastern Conference with a 1-1 draw at home to Sporting Kansas City.
The visitors took the lead in fortunate circumstances on the hour mark when Ethan White diverted the ball into his own net.
However, United earned a share of the spoils five minutes later as Kyle Porter tapped in Chris Pontius's cross from close range.
Porter nearly scored a second with 10 minutes left on the clock, but his low effort was kept out by Jimmy Nielsen.
Meanwhile, Claudio Bieler was denied by DC goalkeeper Bill Hamid at the other end late on.
