Derby County midfielder Craig Bryson has expressed hope that he has shown head coach Steve McClaren that he is worthy of a starting role in the team.
Bryson was a key figure for the Rams last season, scoring 16 goals in 50 games as they reached the Championship playoff final.
However, the Scot's appearance in Saturday's 3-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion was just his fourth start in Derby's last seven league games.
"When you go on the pitch you have to prove yourself, and that's what I've done," Bryson told BBC Radio Derby.
"There's no point sitting in the corner feeling sorry for yourself.
"Obviously you're disappointed when you don't play, but you can't really show it in front of the boys."
Bryson has made 21 appearances so far this season.
