Lee Grant reveals Derby County frustration after Birmingham City draw

Derby goalkeeper Lee Grant admits that he and his teammates were angered by allowing Birmingham City to rally from two goals down to earn a point at the iPro Stadium.

Derby goalkeeper Lee Grant has revealed that he and his teammates were furious with themselves for allowing a two-goal lead to slip in the dying minutes of their draw with Birmingham City.

Jamie Ward and Thomas Ince looked to have paved the way for a victory for the Rams, but Gary Rowett's men were awarded a penalty in the 90th minute which was converted by Paul Caddis.

In the final seconds of the game, the Blues pushed forward in numbers and Clayton Donaldson bundled a loose ball in the box home to put a huge dent in Derby's Championship promotion hopes.

Grant told the club's official website: "There is a lot of disappointment and anger in the dressing room with regards to how we managed the last couple of the minutes of the game.

"We give full credit to Birmingham for their positivity and how they kept going to the death, but we know, both collectively and individually, that we can manage the situation better.

"We take each game in isolation and you tend to look back on groups of games. We look back on them individually and today we are hugely disappointed. We're played so well for such a long time, for 92 minutes, before we made a mistake and we have been punished."

Derby missed out on the chance to go two points clear at the top of the Championship, and are now in second place on 66 points along with three other teams.
