Steve McClaren has insisted that Derby County's recent clinical streak in front of goal is crucial ahead of the Championship playoffs.

Derby have failed to score just once in their previous eight games, and McClaren believes that the impressive run will give his squad a boost as they look to secure promotion.

"We're scoring goals again and we've got our goalscoring boots on, which we hope bodes well for the playoffs," McClaren told Rams Player.

"We had that little run in March where we didn't score for four games but we always knew the goals would come again.

"We maintained the belief all along that we'd start scoring goals again and that was vital."

Derby finish their league campaign against Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.
