Chris Martin scored a hat-trick to lead Derby County to a 3-1 win over Notts County in their pre-season friendly at Meadow Lane this afternoon.
The home side created the majority of the early chances, and managed to take the lead when one of three trialists included in their starting lineup drilled the ball past Kelle Roos.
Their lead lasted just 10 minutes though, as Johnny Russell picked out Martin with a through-ball, leaving the striker with a simple finish to level just before the break.
The visitors took the lead for the first time just a few minutes after the second half got underway when Simon Dawkins was brought down in the box.
Having already found the target in the first half, Martin stepped up the take the penalty, firing it into the right corner to add his second of the afternoon.
Craig Forsyth came close to making it three when he tried to head in from a Jeff Hendrick free kick with 20 minutes to play, but his finish was kept out by the post.
However, Martin found his third just six minutes later, hitting the ball first time from a Hendrick cross to secure the match ball.
