Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Martin Lanig has praised the 12,000 supporters who followed the team to Bordeaux for their 1-0 Group F win on Thursday night.
Lanig, who scored the only goal in the late win, said that the players wanted to put on a better show for the fans but were delighted to get through to the next round.
"We're very happy," UEFA.com quotes Lanig as saying. "It was a tough game for us, but the support of the fans was very good. It was amazing for the team to play with these fans.
"We went for a walk today in the afternoon and we saw a lot of fans from Frankfurt, and that gave us more power to play. We saw them celebrating and felt that they were behind us. Scoring in front of them was a bit like scoring at home. I saw the fans screaming, so I had to go to them."
Frankfurt lead the group by four points, which means that they will finish top no matter their final result.
