Eintracht Frankfurt pile further misery on bottom-placed Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund suffer their eighth defeat of the Bundesliga season, this time at the hands of Eintracht Frankfurt, to remain bottom of the table.

Borussia Dortmund remain rooted to the foot of the Bundesliga table having suffered a 2-0 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Commerzbank-Arena.

Results elsewhere in the German top flight this weekend meant that Die Borussen had to win this evening to climb away from danger, although they got off to the worst possible start when Alexander Meier edged the hosts ahead with just five minutes played.

Marco Russ played the attacking-midfielder through, and the league's top scorer did not let down as he converted the ball beyond Roman Weidenfeller to pile further misery on a faltering Dortmund side.

Despite the early setback, Jurgen Klopp's charges pressed for a leveller, and they twice came close to finding one as the first half wore on.

First, Henrikh Mkhitaryan forced Felix Wiedwald into making a solid save at the end of his effort, while Kevin Grosskreutz saw his shot come back off the post moments later.

The second half unfolded in much the same way as Dortmund looked to force the issue to no avail, with Adrian Ramos coming closest to equalising with a strike that was kept out by Wiedwald once more.

Then came a calamitous moment for BVB as a mix-up at the back between Matthias Ginter and Weidenfeller allowed Seferovic to double Frankfurt's lead with a little over 10 minutes to play.

Despite Ilkay Gundogan's efforts late on to pull a goal back from his well-hit free kick it was not to be for the Black and Yellows, who taste defeat for the eighth time this season.

While Dortmund are down in 18th place, this win sees the Eagles jump up to ninth in the table.
