Empoli extended their unbeaten run in Serie A to three matches by playing out a 0-0 draw with Atalanta BC this afternoon.
German Denis had a good chance to score for the hosts inside the opening five minutes when he was picked out by Maximiliano Moralez's cross, but headed wide of the far post.
It was Empoli who were next to threaten and Simone Verdi saw his effort from close range turned onto the woodwork by Marco Sportiello.
Sportiello was forced into making another good save at the start of the second half from Massimo Maccarone's near-post strike.
In the final 10 minutes, Moralez fired wide for Atalanta as neither side were unable to break the deadlock in a goalless stalemate.
