Norwich City manager Chris Hughton believes that goalkeeper John Ruddy deserves to be in the England fold.
The 27-year-old has been called into the Three Lions squad for upcoming friendlies against Chile and Germany.
With manager Roy Hodgson expected to tinker with his team for both fixtures, Ruddy could be handed the number one role.
"He's been excellent for us this season," Hughton told talkSPORT. "He has continued to be in that [England] frame and we are looking forward to him getting that opportunity. He certainly hasn't done himself any harm with his performances for us this season.
"At a time when perhaps the manager might look at other players, then John is certainly one that warrants his opportunity."
Celtic's Fraser Forster is also in contention to start against Chile on Friday.
