Former Netherlands international Clarence Seedorf has insisted that either Wayne Rooney or Daniel Sturridge should be left out of the starting lineup for England's clash against Uruguay on Thursday night.
Seedorf said that England deserved better from their performance against Italy, but rather than Roy Hodgson playing both similar players from the start Seedorf would look to see one replace the other up front against Uruguay for more impact.
"Saturday was the first time in a long time that I have seen an England team play attractive football," he told the Daily Mail. "I really enjoyed their performance, despite the result. They played with real flair, particularly Raheem Sterling.
"But if England are to make a real mark on this tournament, either Wayne Rooney or Daniel Sturridge needs to start the match against Uruguay on the bench.
"Yes, it is a tough decision for Hodgson to leave one of them out but they both play the same position. There would also then be the advantage of bringing one of them off the bench to change the game."
England's game kicks off at 8pm.
