Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between Everton Ladies and Leicester Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

After losing to Leicester Women in the League Cup in midweek, Everton Ladies will be looking for revenge when they play host to the Foxes in Sunday's Women's Super League contest.

Having picked up 11 points from as many matches, the Toffees are currently sitting in ninth spot, while the visitors are just one place behind in 10th position.

Match preview

After beginning the new year with an FA Cup win over Aston Villa, Everton have gone on to experience a couple of disappointing results.

The Toffees fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat in their WSL clash with Arsenal last weekend, before they suffered a heavy loss in Wednesday's League Cup game against Leicester.

Brian Sorensen's side were swept aside via a 5-1 scoreline, ensuring that they finished bottom of the group without a single point to their name.

Following the final game of a forgettable League Cup campaign, Everton will now turn their attention to Sunday's clash at Walton Hall Park, where they will attempt to claim their first home win of the WSL season, having picked up just one point from their five league games this term.

While they have struggled to perform in front of their own supporters, the Toffees can draw inspiration from the fact that they have won their last two home meetings with Leicester.

Although Leicester collected a victory in their midweek League Cup fixture, they have found wins hard to come by in the WSL.

In fact, the Foxes have gone nine league games without a win since edging out Everton via a 1-0 scoreline in October's reverse fixture.

Their most recent league outing resulted in a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa after Rachel Daly's first-half strike proved enough to separate the two sides.

While they still have a five-point cushion to the sole relegation place, the Foxes will be determined to clinch a long-awaited league win this weekend.

The visitors will at least be confident about troubling the scorers, having found the net in each of their five away league games this season.

Team News

Everton remain without the services of Emily Ramsey and Katrine Veje, while the game will come too soon for Karen Holmgaard, who is making progress in her injury recovery.

After scoring three goals in her last two appearances, Katja Snoeijs will want to continue her fine form when she leads the line on Sunday.

Arsenal loanee Kathrine Kuhl is set to feature among the substitutes, with the 20-year-old looking to make her debut for the Merseyside club.

As for the visitors, they are unable to call upon Hannah Cain and CJ Bott, who are sidelined with knee and calf injuries respectively.

January additions Saori Takarada and Yuka Momiki are set to retain their places in the side after starting the club's last two matches.

Asmita Ale is expected to feature among the substitutes, having joined on loan from Tottenham until the end of the season.

Everton Ladies possible starting lineup:
Brosnan; Stenevik, Finnigan, S. Holmgaard; Payne, Wheeler, Galli, Bissell; Bennison, Olesen, Snoeijs

Leicester Women possible starting lineup:
Leitzig; Cayman, Thibaud, Howard, Nevin; Takarada, Tierney; Momiki, Rantala, O'Brien; Petermann

We say: Everton Ladies 1-1 Leicester Women

Leicester may have already beaten Everton on two occasions this season, but they have failed to win any of their last nine league games.

With that in mind, we think that the visitors will have to settle for a share of the spoils from Sunday's trip to Walton Hall Park.
