Jean-Philippe Gbamin has joined CSKA Moscow on loan from Everton for the remainder of the season.

The 26-year-old has endured an injury-plagued spell at the Toffees since joining for £22.5m in 2019, making just eight appearances for the club in total.

Five of those appearances have come this season, but new boss Frank Lampard has deemed him surplus to requirements and Gbamin will now spend the rest of the 2021-22 campaign on loan at Russian outfit CSKA Moscow.

The Russian transfer window closes on Tuesday, and CSKA have beaten that deadline to sign the Ivory Coast international midfielder on a temporary basis in a deal which is understood to not include any option or obligation to buy.

Gbamin could make his debut for CSKA when their 11-week winter break ends this weekend against city rivals Spartak Moscow.

CSKA currently sit fourth in the Russian Premier League table, eight points behind leaders Zenit St Petersburg.
