Fenerbahce forward Dirk Kuyt has described his side's win in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final against Benfica as a "great night for Turkish football".
Egemen Korkmaz scored the only goal of the game in the 71st minute at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium on Thursday after Cristian Baroni had missed a first-half penalty for the hosts.
"It is a great night for Turkish football," Kuyt told reporters. "We won in spite of our bad luck.
"Tactically, and in terms of preparation, we were incredible. We managed to cancel them out, having spent the last three days studying everything that they do."
Fenerbahce travel to Portugal for the return leg on Thursday.
