Fiorentina midfielder Borja Valero has admitted that he is keen to earn a place in the Spain squad for next year's World Cup.
The 28-year-old scored twice for his club during their 4-3 win over Hellas Verona on Monday evening and is desperate to represent his country in Brazil, despite the strong competition for places.
"If I get a call to the national team then I'll be happy, otherwise peace," he told Sky Sport Italia.
"There is always hope because to play in a World Cup would be something unique. I know it will be quite difficult for me, but a call would be very satisfying."
Valero won his only cap for Spain during a friendly against the USA in 2011.
