Jurgen Klinsmann has insisted that he has no intention of settling for a draw when the USA take on Germany in Group G on Thursday.
A draw would see both sides progress safely from the group, but Klinsmann believes that it is important for his team to continue to play positively as they target top spot ahead of the Germans.
"We want to go at Germany, win the game and get seven points and be in the driver's seat for the next round," the 49-year-old told reporters. "I am very confident that we will do well in the game.
"If you see the team play as we did against Portugal, we are capable of surprising other teams and that is what we are going to do.
"We will get everybody excited and hungry for the Germany game."
Klinsmann was a member of Germany's victorious squad at the 1990 World Cup.
