Germany manager Joachim Low has said that his side deserved to win their World Cup match against the USA.
The Germans claimed a 1-0 victory to qualify top of Group G, and Low was delighted by the dominance of his team's performance.
"We knew it would be a tough match and we were ready for it," he told www.dfb.de. "The USA played very well in both their previous matches, although I was expecting them to show a little more initiative.
"USA dropped relatively deep and pulled everyone a long way back. We were clearly the dominant team and our organisation was very good.
"With the exception of the last minute, we stopped them creating chances throughout the match. We showed lots of authority. We always knew it would be a fight right to the end."
Germany will now face Algeria in the last 16 of the tournament next Monday.
