Levante have moved four points clear of the relegation zone in La Liga thanks to a 1-0 victory over Getafe
Despite dominating possession for long spells of the first half, Getafe struggled to create clear chances and a rare opening ended in disappointment when Diego Marino made a fine save to deny Diego Castro.
After soaking up the pressure, it was Levante who broke the deadlock 10 minutes before the break when a Jose Morales corner found Victor Casadesus, who used the space on offer to power home a header.
Castro looked the most threatening of the Getafe players, but he wasted a good chance early in the second half as a tame effort made life easy for Marino.
Levante continued to defend with the stubbornness which has missing from many of their performances this season as Getafe struggled to turn pressure into clear opportunities.
However, a lapse in concentration at the back should have allowed Getafe to equalise, but Baba Diawara somehow managed to poke the ball wide from six yards out.
Getafe were unable to create a better opportunity as Levante held on for three crucial points.
