Girona attacker Portu has insisted that his team "deserved" to record a famous win over Real Madrid on Sunday afternoon.
In the first ever La Liga clash between the two teams, Girona came from one goal behind to record a 2-1 victory over the Spanish champions.
It was Portu that scored what proved to be the winner in the 59th minute, and the 25-year-old has claimed that his side were "rewarded" for their excellent performance.
"My goal? I honestly do not know, I saw the ball and didn't think about anything else," Portu is quoted as saying by Marca. "We enjoyed a really strong first half, we hit the post twice and knew that if we kept on this patch we would eventually be rewarded.
"The result of the game is fair and deserved and for us, these three points will be very important in our bid for survival, we want to play another game already!"
Girona currently sit 12th in La Liga on 12 points - six points clear of the relegation zone.
