Houston Dynamo have registered a 1-0 victory over Montreal Impact at home in the MLS.
The visitors had the first chance of the game in the seventh minute when Felipe Martins shot over the crossbar from close range.
Andrew Driver saw an attempt saved for the hosts just minutes later, before Martins failed to find the target again.
Martins had another opportunity to put Impact in the lead midway through the first half, but once more he could not get his shot on goal from outside the Houston box.
Giles Barnes and David Horst had chances for the home team in the subsequent minutes before they eventually went ahead in the 40th minute.
Will Bruin broke the deadlock at the BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston when he was set up by Barnes outside the Impact area to fire home past goalkeeper Troy Perkins.
Oscar Boniek could have doubled the home side's advantage in the opening minutes of the second half, while Collen Warner squandered Impact's first opportunity after the restart just minutes later.
The visitors created further chances through Patrice Bernier and Hernan Bernardello as the second half progressed, but failed to find the equaliser.
