Hull City have been held to a 1-1 half-time draw by Trencin in the second leg of their third-round Europa League qualifier at the KC Stadium tonight.
Steve Bruce's side are 45 minutes away from exiting the tournament after their Slovakian counterparts bagged a crucial away goal as early as the second minute to gain the upper hand in the tie following last week's 0-0 draw.
It was Tomas Malec who opened the scoring, rifling past goalkeeper Allan McGregor from 14 yards to give the Tigers a mountain to climb.
The hosts responded well and should have restored parity on the 25-minute mark, as Shane Long spurned two good opportunities in front of goal to level matters.
Ahmed Elmohamady was on hand to spare the Irishman's blushes, however, as the midfielder evaded his marker to nod home a Robbie Brady cross two minutes later.
Hull should have negated Trencin's away goal and taken a half-time lead, with Long again culpable as the striker somehow managed to head straight at Milos Volesak from three yards.
