Nick Barmby has revealed that he is planning to appeal Hull City's decision to sack him earlier today.

The club's owners revealed that they had fired the former England international for comments that he made to the media regarding Hull's finances.

However, Barmby has admitted that he is disappointed by the club's decision to make the news public before he has had the chance to appeal.

"In everything I have done for the club I have always acted in the best interests of Hull City," Barmby said via a statement released by the League Managers Association.

"I was told today that I had seven days within which to submit an appeal against my dismissal, and yet the club has now made an official statement, on behalf of the board, stating publicly the alleged reasons for my dismissal.

"I nevertheless intend to appeal."

Barmby took charge of 33 Hull matches.
