Hull City forward George Boyd has been banned for three matches for spitting at Joe Hart, the Football Association has confirmed, as the player's appeal is rejected.
The incident happened during last Saturday's 2-0 defeat to the Citizens, with the FA's initial charge on Tuesday found proven at an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing on Thursday.
Hull confirmed on Wednesday that they would be appealing the decision, but the charge has quickly been upheld and the ban will begin with Saturday's home clash against West Bromwich Albion.
Boyd was deemed to be in breach of FA Rule E1[a], which came into effect after the match officials missed the incident on the pitch but video replays caught it.
