Nigel Pearson has asked current employers Hull City for permission to talk to Leicester City over the vacant manager's role at the King Power Stadium, according to Sky Sports News.
The 48-year-old previously managed the Foxes between for two years up until 2010 and is reportedly keen on returning to the club.
Leicester's Thai owners made an approach to hold discussions with Pearson yesterday, but their Hull counterparts refused their request.
However, stories have suggested that Leicester are yet to give up hope on re-appointing Pearson and hope that a second request will be accepted.
Leicester have been without a manager since they parted company with Sven-Goran Eriksson last month.
